Please note: In order to offer the best availability to our all customers and ensure proper attendance and planning, class registrations are not refundable once they are paid for – nor can they can changed or moved. We will not be able to effectively plan and provide proper availability without having set schedules and attendance commitments. In addition, some classes require a minimum attendance threshold to make it most effective. In the unusual event a class does not meet that requirement, Bricknowlogy will offer a full refund and notice at least 48 hours before the class start date. SYNOPSIS: This instructor-led class promotes and advances the skills for students to “Free Build” – make their own models and creations without the use of instructions. Students are inspired and taught to build unique and individual designs with our vast selection of elements, including many hard-to-find parts such as hinges, socket joints, turntables, wheels/axles, windscreens. Each student is given guidance in selecting a theme, and then design hints, tips, tricks and advice to enhance their building skills and utilize pieces in new ways. SNOT (Studs Not On Top) construction is strongly promoted, as are the use of advanced parts and innovative design principles
OBJECTIVE: Teach young builders how to form ideas and then introduce free-flow model making and art creation using an assortment of common elements that can be combined in unlimited ways to make anything your mind can imagine. Through demonstration, encouragement, and gentle assistance, our expert builders will teach young minds to explore their imagination and use common LEGO elements to create unique and personal models and help them to build their mind. Introduction of free-flow model making and sculpture design techniques by teaching students how to turn 2-dimensional ideas into 3-dimensional objects. From houses, cars, trees, and aircraft / spaceships to animals and abstracts shapes, students are encouraged to stretch their imagination and then build it.
APPROACH: Through the use of advanced elements and in combination with LEGO Technic elements, students are taught to free-flow ideas and turn them into 3-Dimensional creations with the help and guidance of a master builder.
STEAM SKILLS ACQUIRED / EDUCATIONAL BENEFIT: : STEAM SKILLS:
1. Science: Spatial Relations: identify, rotate, and assemble objects in “space”
2. Technology: basic relationships and ratios of the LEGO building system
3. Engineering: fine motor skills, basic instructional / visual interpretation
4. Art: creative design, visual interpretation and creation of various real-word and imaginary objects using advanced LEGO elements
5. Math: basic numbers and counting (studs), ratios, grouping
LEGO® TECHNIQUE: Studs Not on TOP (SNoT) construction, Technic integration, hinges and turntables, brackets, fine detailing with smaller elements, modular construction, multi-tiered structures
